SC Johnson join Take 3 for clean up at Dee Why Beach
Take 3 staff and volunteers recently came together with SC Johnson people for a clean-up of Dee Why Beach in celebration of our ongoing partnership.
SC Johnson has been supporting Take 3 since 2020 when they helped launch our online learning program, while this year they have also lent their support to both our Youth Leadership and Youth Summit education initiatives.
On Sunday, SC Johnson team members and their families took direct action to support our work by descending on Dee Why Beach to remove plastic and waste from the beach and surrounding areas. Through the cleanup, volunteers removed an astonishing 2,754 pieces of litter, filling nine garbage bags and weighing 60kgs!
A rewarding day was spent with families focused on learning about the impact of plastics in the ocean and playing a part in the solution. SC Johnson remains committed to reducing ocean plastic and proud of the impact that Take 3 for the Sea is delivering and will continue to deliver through the up-coming Youth Leadership programs.
The day began with a welcome and thank you message from Take 3 CEO Sarah Beard. The clean-up then followed, as well as a specific microplastics demonstration from Take 3 volunteer Sara Bowtell. The attendees then joined Take 3 in a litter audit before enjoying lunch at Dee Why Surf Club while the youngsters in attendance took part in some Easter games.
