Take 3 has been Highly Commended in the Lifetime Achievement Award category at NSW Government’s prestigious 2019 Green Globe Awards. The awards recognise sustainability leaders across NSW, with Take 3 receiving acclaim for its 10 years of service to the planet.
The awards took place at Taronga Zoo’s Function Centre in Sydney on 27 November 2019, showcasing individuals and organisations who have made exceptional positive impacts on the New South Wales environment.
Despite the esteemed competition, Take 3’s global impact and conservation of our oceans was acknowledged as a “significant contribution in leading the way to a thriving and resilient future for [New South Wales] communities and our state.”
“The recognition of Take 3’s achievement over the last 10 years is an honour. Having operated for a decade now, we hope that in terms of lifetime achievement awards, Take 3 is just getting started! For Take 3, the future is looking bright and plastic-free” said Roberta Dixon-Valk, Take 3 Co-Founder and Head of Programs.
“These awards are the pinnacle of government recognition for environmental organisations, who are focused on sustainability, and protecting this ‘planet ocean’ we rely on.” Tim Silverwood, Take 3 Co-Founder and CEO.
This is not the first time Take 3 has been recognised by the Green Globes: Tim Silverwood was awarded the Sustainability Champion Award in 2014 for Excellence in Leadership and Innovation.
Take 3’s Co-Founders felt privileged to meet the winner of the Young Sustainability Champion Award, Shalise Leesfield. At only 12 years old, Shalise has started her own campaign, Shalise’s Ocean Support, and has worked with Port Macquarie Council to combat plastic pollution in local waterways. People like Shalise are paving the way towards a cleaner future with their exciting and innovative ideas.
