As the sun rose over Merewether Ocean Baths in Newcastle, NSW on Tuesday morning, Take 3 led a community of over 45 volunteers to clean up their local beach. In a short hour, the community intercepted an estimated 650 pieces of rubbish bound for a lifetime of destruction in the ocean.

Teaming up with Merewether Beach Clean, Take 3 mobilised the community to come together and #Take3fortheSea while Channel 7’s Sunrise broadcast the cleanup live to the nation.

“Over 45 volunteers arrived at sunrise to help marine life and spread the word, although you could feel the global Take 3 community there with us too,” Take 3 Volunteers Coordinator and event lead, Emilee Deal said.

Local cleanup crew, Merewether Beach Clean were inspired by Take 3’s message and began implementing regular patrols of the area. “This has not only helped our oceans, but it’s also mobilised a community to connect with each other and the planet,” said Emilee Deal.

The beauty of Take 3’s simple message is that anyone can participate, anywhere, at any time. Bring #Take3fortheSea to your local community and join our global movement today!
