Beach Clean Up for NSW Tourism Industry

Take 3 for the Sea will be hosting a Beach Clean Up for members of the NSW tourism industry at Rose Bay, Sydney, on Friday 3 December 2021.

This event will celebrate First Wave – a collaboration between Take 3 for the Sea and the NSW tourism industry to reduce litter, plastic pollution and waste.

DID YOU KNOW?
Over 35 million tonnes of solid waste is generated per year by visitors globally. With 80% of all tourism taking place in coastal areas, plastic and litter from tourist activity can be a large contributor to pollution with huge amounts of plastic ending up in rivers and getting carried into the oceans. Litter that reaches the ocean poses a threat to wildlife, including whales, dolphins, sea turtles and birds.

Take 3 is working with the NSW tourism industry to understand the sources of litter in the tourism sector, and to agree strategies to reduce it. We hope the event will bring the community together, make a real impact on the natural environment, and continue the conversation about reducing litter at source.
